President Donald Trump on Friday announced that Boeing won the
contract to develop the F-47, America’s first sixth-generation aircraft. The Next-
Generation Air Dominance fighter is seen as the successor to the fifth-generation F-22
Raptor. Full contract details were not released, but the development costs could exceed
$20 billion, per The Associated Press. The F-47 will be “the most advanced, lethal and
adaptable fighter ever developed,” Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin said in a
statement.
