Plans to transfer an F-16 Fighting Falcon squadron
from the D.C. Air National Guard to the Maryland Air Guard have been quashed by the
Trump administration. “The F-16s will stay with the DC ANG,” an unnamed official
wrote in an email to several news outlets. “The Trump Administration will continue to
prioritize readiness and Warfighting to achieve Peace through Strength for the United
States.” Maryland officials sought the transfer in order to retain a flying mission in the
wake of the divesture of the 175th Wing’s fleet of A-10 Thunderbolt IIs.
