PROMOTION HOLDS Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., announced Tuesday he is dropping most of his months-long holds on military officer nominations in the Senate, according to multiple published reports. Tuberville had vowed to block all military officer nominations in the Senate until the Pentagon changes its internal abortion policies. He now plans to continue his holds on four-star nominees, Tuberville told reporters, but will release the rest of the nominees effective immediately. It isn’t clear yet whether Democratic Senate leaders will schedule individual votes on the outstanding four-star nominees, which account for only 12 of 451 senior-level officers Tuberville had put on hold.
